The Hottest Shafts In Golf’ wins wood and hybrid shaft counts on PGA Tour
May 23, 2011 – POWAY, Calif. – Aldila’s RIP Technology™ helped propel two players to their first victories of the season Sunday as the winners of the Crowne Plaza Invitational and the Volvo World Match Play Championship were both playing Aldila’s RIP shaft.
At the Crowne Plaza Invitational, the winner used the Aldila shaft RIP in his driver to help capture his first victory in five years. He posted a 15-under 265 (62-62-74-67) to win by one stroke. The win followed a second place finish at The Players Championship the week before where Aldila’s RIP Technology also helped him finish at TPC as the Most Accurate Driver.
With the help of Aldila’s RIP® and NV® Hybrid shafts, the winner of the Volvo World Match Play Championship posted his first victory of the season and his 11th on the European Tour by winning the final match Sunday 2 and 1. He became the first player to win both the World Golf Championships-Accenture Match Play Championship and the Volvo.
“More and more Tour players are choosing Aldila shafts RIP Technology because it offers them lower torque, increased tip stability and better tip stiffness control,” said Stewart Bahl, Aldila shafts Marketing Manager. “The RIP (Reverse Interlaminar Placement) employs patent-pending technology and exclusive materials to completely transform shaft design from the inside out. Through the use of computer modeling technology and exclusive materials provided by the Aldila Materials Division, Aldila engineers were able to completely rethink golf shaft design and performance. The result is a revolutionary shaft with optimum flex and torque characteristics with incredible feel.”
The RIP is available in three models, the Alpha, Beta and Gamma. The RIP Alpha is the original RIP shaft that has a tip-stiff, low-to-mid launch with low spin. The Beta version has a slightly softer tip flex for mid launch, The Gamma has the same launch characteristics as the original Alpha with a higher balance point for use with heavier heads to achieve a conventional swing weight.
“The Hottest Shafts In Golf” also won the wood and hybrid shaft manufacturer counts at the Crowne Plaza Invitational, according to the Darrell Survey. The shaft count wins marked the 17th time in the past 19 weeks that Aldila has won both shaft counts on the PGA Tour.
